Non-Overnighter Departure Time: All non-overnight campers/teens/adults will depart at 4:15 pm via bus and have the option to return the next day. This decision must be made during registration and cannot be changed.
Sleeping Arrangements: Overnight sleeping accommodations are by troop instead of units.
Food: Dinner, snacks/desserts, and breakfast for the overnight, will be provided by camp.
Health and Safety:
All girl scout safety standards are met at camp. A certified first-aider is on duty at all times and arrangements have been made with local emergency services. Complete the registration and health forms with current and accurate information. All medical information will be kept confidential and accessed on a need-to-know basis only. This will help us meet the need of all campers. Parent/Guardian signature is required to give permission for emergency medical treatment.
COVID-19:
While no restrictions or changes are in place currently, the status of guidance or mandates specific to COVID-19 and its impacts on day camp will be continually monitored leading up to camp and all campers and guardians will be notified of any changes via email.
Medication:
Our health staff ensures campers have access to their medications as needed during camp. Please follow these guidelines for packing medications:
List all medications on the registration form.
Notify camp staff of any changes before camp via email at daycampsu606@gmail.com or by calling (402) 880-9880.
All medications, except inhalers and epi-pens, should be stored at the first aid station.
Inhalers and epi-pens will be kept in the camper's backpack for emergencies.
Medications must be in their original containers inside a Ziplock bag labeled with the camper's name.
A medication form must accompany each medication in the Ziplock bag.
Severe Weather:
Each camp has an action plan to respond to all forms of inclement weather. Please contact your Day Camp Director for specific information.
Camp Clothes:
Camp is an outside activity. Dress your camper in old clothes appropriate for the weather. We recommend hat, bandana, socks and sturdy closed toe shoes. LEAVE FLIP FLOPS AND SANDALS AT HOME.
Equipment & Supplies:
As you pack, label everything with your camper’s first and last name.
Remember that camp is an outside activity– think dirt, dust, and humidity – so, clothes and shoes will get dirty. Pack extra clothing in case they need to change.
What NOT to bring to camp:
Electronics (Including phones. Please do not expect photos, texts or phone calls from your child during their time at camp.)
Flip flops or sandals
Tank Tops or halter tops
Additional Camp Information:
Camp Units
At camp, you'll be part of a unit, a small group of up to 12 girls and adult unit volunteers. We prioritize keeping troops together but may pair them with another troop if necessary due to size constraints (rare). Units are organized by grade and program level, and unfortunately, we cannot accommodate sibling pairings.
Contacting your camper
To ensure a fulfilling camp experience for all, phone calls and cell phones are not permitted for campers. Please contact our staff directly for any camper communications or early departures. Unfortunately, transportation for early departures cannot be provided.
SWAPS
Girl Scouts exchange small tokens known as 'SWAPS' (Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere) during travels or camp. These can range from elaborate crafts to simple notes or stickers, attached with safety pins. Check Pinterest for some great ideas.
If you want to make SWAPS, we recommend you make about 50 - 80 to exchange with the other girls. This is totally optional and not required for camp.
Council Trading Post
We're thrilled to announce that our council retail team will set up a trading post shop at our day camp, offering campers a chance to buy fun camp items! Here's how it works:
Pre-orders are accepted for delivery to camp, or campers can bring cash or credit to purchase on-site. Email shopdept@gsksmo.org for details on how to use Cookie Dough at the Trading Post.
Two weeks before camp, families will receive an email reminder from Council, including the full list of items for pre-order or on-site purchase.
Participation is optional.
Find more Trading Post info here. For any questions, please email shopdept@gsksmo.org.
Adventure Programming:
We're dedicated to empowering Girl Scouts to try new things, conquer fears, and boost confidence. Included in your Day Camp fees are exciting activities including but not limited to:
Archery: Sharpen your skills with compound bows (Brownies and Teens)
Daisy Climbing Wall: An introductory climbing program on a 10 foot wall with various challenges to get from one end to the other (Daisies only)
Rappelling: Experience the thrill of descending from a 40' tower (Juniors and Teens)
Sling Shots: Aim at targets and get a little messy with paint (Daisies only)
Swimming: Enjoy pool and splash pad fun (all campers) (only available at Camp Prairie Schooner)
Tomahawk Throwing: Learn throwing techniques and enjoy team throwing games and competitions (Juniors and Teens)

Please note the age restrictions for each activity. We're committed to providing a diverse range of experiences for all our campers. We use a "Challenge of Choice" approach for Adventure Programming, ensuring that no girl is required to participate if they choose not to.
